This thread gives the animation staff that worked on Futurama a forum in which to ask questions to the fans of Futurama about their favorite animated sci fi sitcom. Questions such as:
What's up with that guy marc at gotfuturama.com? His avatar creeps the hell out of me -- is that supposed to be him with a robotic eye or something? Any info would be appreciated.

It's him if he was a Borg from Star Trek. Also, mArc is our god and saviour, without him and Slimmy we'd be up sh*t creek without a messageboard. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Thank you for the speedy reply, FazOr. I figured it was such. Let me add one more thing...this is exactly the kind of exchange this thread was created for: civil discussion between artists and fans, getting to know each other, discovering what makes each other tick. You get it, FazOr. You're one of the good ones in my book. Unfortunately I'm going to ask our Administrator to close this topic because there are others out there who would rather twist my perfectly honest question into some sort of attack against marc or a sign of ignorance on my part because I "don't know what a borg is". Well sir, if by chance you happen to return here looking to peddle your "us vs. them" poison, you can believe me when I say that I didn't get where I am today by not knowing what a borg is. Anyway, thanks again, FazOr, and marc, if you're ever in Glendale, stop by RDS and we'll take you out to lunch.

Hey there. The Borg avatar is one of a few left overs from a short assimilation period on PEEL where several member avatars got "borgified". Sad thing, that picture mock up of me is from a period when I still had lots of hair ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) There still is a borg Edna (edeltraut) and a borg Australian Guy somewhere on the server. My next trip to the US will probably be to Illinois and might have to wait till someone in Washington agrees not to fingerprint and mugshhot me upon arrival ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Welcome to the RDS Message Board, -mArc-.
Thanks for clearing up this whole borg thing. In the words of our own Cochino, it definately was getting "hot in heeerrreee". (sp)? Can you believe that some guy at PEEL declared war against the RDS Test Site for merely questioning your avatar?! I truly appreciate you stepping in as an act of goodwill. Perhaps our two worlds can co-exist in harmony. But on the topic of lunch...what kind of excuse is that? Illinois? Mugshots and fingerprints? Man, I swear to god, you fans will say anything to get out of having lunch with us artists.

HelIo,
I believe I'm the only other poster at PEEL with a borg avatar. There used to be several others, but they've all been changed since then.
What's this about a war? It must've been a pretty inflammatory post if it's been deleted. Well, idiots will be idiots. Just keep in mind that no individual poster, except maybe mArc, can speak for all of PEEL.

I'll make everyone on PEEL join this fourm.
That would be too hard to do. So I won't do it then.

What is PEEL? And here's a question for the fans...who was your favorite Futurama director?

Welcome to the RDS Message Board, edel!
I'm glad we got this borg/avatar thing worked out. There was moment there that I thought it would be the death of this test site...seriously. It kind of ruined my whole Easter. Anyway, it's great to have you guys from PEEL here (I'll let you guys explain to our friend Cochino what PEEL is). And homerjayla, feel free to invite the gang over -- except for that guy FishyJoe, he seems kind of grumpy and mean.

PEEL is short for Planet Express Employee Lounge - the most popular Futurama message board on the net. You can check it out here.

I have a question for the fans! A real question! The wallpapers that you feature on your websites, are those framegrabs or does someone draw those?

I checked out the PEEL last night, and I have a three part question for you fans...
1. How many of you still live with your mothers and have more than one cat? 2. What is the ratio of those over age 30 that have never had a girlfriend to Star trek fans? 3. How many of you spend at least $100 a month on your favorite stripper?
Lodge, out.

I think I can answer those: rikki_rakko: The wallpapers are usually from one out of three categories: 1. hand drawn + scanned 2. drawn on computers with Illustrator etc or rendered 3. "scanned from framegrabs" + changed. That one means someone took a framegrab, traced the outlines and then filled in the rest as they pleased. rogerlodge: 1. Lots of people living with their mothers since many Futurama fans are in the 13 to 18 year range. Not sure about cats. 2. This one might not sound all that credible: The above 30 crowd is somewhat sparce, probably below 5%. Guess the girlfriend ratio is lower than in the general public like on about all message boards. Star Trek fans aren't really that common on PEEL either. Now the real weird thing is... Even though the concept of girlfriends is quite a mystery to many PEELers, there are lots of females on there. Check out the Simpsons boards and you won't find more than 2 females (and those got beards). Either Futurama attracts more girls or the board does. I haven't seen many other TV show boards organizing international meet-ups either. 3. See the age question ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Not that they wouldn't want to...

The Lodge gives many propers to mArc or whatever the lil' fanboy cals himself. I feel great shame in my castration of the PEELers. I think I'll go and clean my cat box out.
Lodge out.

I'd like to apolgise for declaring war on your message board, it was wrong and I was only 75% serious anyways... Plus you didn't stand a chance!! ;D ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Keep up the good..... Well, yknow. Hi sheep555!! *waves like a mad eejit* ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) For the record, I've had at least one girlfriend and I dislike cats. Any more questions? this is fun.

Welcome to the RDS Message Board, Nick S.
You got it right about Cohen and the ladies, brutha! Every day there'd be a constant parade of hot chicks filing in and out of his office. The guy's an unsatiable monster.
I have another question for the fans. At PEEL there's a thread titled "Best of Audio Commentaries", with a poll allowing you to vote for your favorite commentator. Johnny D and DXC are the clear favorites carrying about 35% of the vote each. However, if you read through the thread, a lot of posters are dissatisfied with the lack of actual hard information contained within the commentaries. If one were to break down each commentator's amount of of time speaking and the amount of information pertinent to Futurama within that time, the info ratio works out to something like this:
• David Cohen 73% • Matt Groening 59% • Billy West 37% • Rich Moore 2% • John DiMaggio -15% • Scott Vanzo 97.5%!!!
So Scott Vanzo provides the lion's share of the inside information that the fans claim to hunger for, but he hasn't received one vote as a favorite commentator! So Futurama Fans, "what's up with that"?

As a Futurama worker, I listened with eager anticipation to the commentaries. I'd say that about 5% of what is said is actually interesting in a Futurama-wise way. They should have to do about three takes of commentary, then pull the best stuff out. In fact, I'm here and now calling for reissues of Futurama with better commentaries.
p.s. I heard that that Rich Moore guy is real funny. Why is he so quiet on the commentaries?
