Writing At Beginning: Can cause loss of blood
The Planet Express crew delivers 50 crates of paint to Venus, after plans that Venusarians wants to paint their planet a different colour. Once there, they see a lost robot. The robot is called Albot, and he catches a hitchhike to earth with the crew. On the way there, Albot and Bender realise they have a lot in common and they become very good friends. Instead of being jealous Fry is actually glad that Bender has a decent friend of his own kind. When the crew get back, they realise the police are there. The police want any robots to come with them to New New York’s Science lab, where there will be Robot testing (In the future, animal testing got overruled in 2300, and now Robot testing is the legal way to test for medicine for living things).
Meanwhile, since they got back from Venus, Leela has been really worried that nibbler has gotten ill, and it hasn’t eaten anything for days. Elsewhere, Bender and Albot are both medically tested for a few hours. However, whilst bender is waiting for his friend, it is revealed that Albot has died because of the Testing. Bender is greatly saddened and angry, and vows to change the Robot testing rule. Bender, and a lot of other damaged (due to testing) robots create a massive group, protesting outside the mayor’s office. Eventually Bender and his protestors persuade all robots in New New York to participate in this protest, and all will go on strike if the rule is not changed. The rule is changed, but all medical testing has stopped. Therefore there is currently no new medical advancements available, for animals, robots and humans.
Whilst, Bender is so happy and proud of what he has done, Leela is devastated. Nibbler still hasn’t recovered, and without future testing on robots, there will be no new medicine to cure Nibbler’s mysterious disease. Nibbler tries to escape to his home planet, but hasn’t got the energy to hardly move. Leela, pleads to Bender (as the leader of the Robot Testing protest), to change the rule back… or Nibbler could die. Bender ridicules the idea at first, but then realises the same pain he went through after Albot died. After a lot of thinking and encouragement by Fry, Bender realises what he has to do. Bender convinces the Robot nation of New New York, that a lot more things will die, unless there are sacrifices (by sacrifice, he means robots who are willing to be tested for medical use), which also includes robots. The rule is changed back to normal, and new medicine is produced for Nibbler, who survives. The whole crew is so proud of Bender, that they got Albot’s old shrapnel (equivalent to human’s ashes) and put them in a jar for Bender.
