Hi all! New around these parts although I have dropped by now and again for the past few months. Futurama is my favorite show and thank you to all who were involved with it and good luck this weekend with the Emmy nomination. As last year, it deserves to win it all but you know those fickle Emmy voters. A question for some of you - at the SDCC this year DXC left a sign in sheet for interest for a plush Bender doll. Does anyone know how to get ahold of him? Since the show I have gathered a bunch more signatures of people who are interested who could not make the Con. I don't know if somebody could ask him about this or not or pass on my email address to him that would be even better. I would be interested to hear some folks experiences from working on the show and how do you feel about it now that production has stopped on it for almost 2 years now. Anyways, enough from me for now. RM

Welcome to the RDS Message Board©, Nibblerhouse...man, I was starting to wonder when we'd finally hear something out of you!
Thanks for your well wishes regarding the Emmy, my friend. Producing and realizing a show as ambitious as Futurama was an incredible experience (more on this later), and taking home the prize would provide some very satisfiying and ironic closure. I for one cannot think of a better way to go out. However, there is another nominee, a show called "The Simpsons", which has a pretty good track record for scooping up these Emmys year after year. But we're keeping our fingers crossed and if we do win, we'll be celebrating afterwards at Bar FN (formerly "Duffy's") or The Chalet in Eagle Rock. Feel free to join us. Bring chicks.
You inquire about David's hair-brained idea for a plush Bender doll. Okay, allow me a moment to get something off my chest before I answer your question...
A plush Bender doll?! Really, has Mr. C. (as I call him) gone totally friggin' nuts this time?! What the h**l kind of idea is that? Bender is a robot made of metal (and I'll leave it to you fans to argue exactly what kinds of metal and their crazy percentages)! He's not plush! He's hard -- like metal! Like the Bender figures they sold a few years ago made out of metal! It's not that I'm against plush. A plush Fry doll, I can see that. A plush Nibbler, that makes sense. Hell, I'd even be on board with a plush Zoidberg! But Bender?! No way! The mere thought of it boggles my mind! Sorry, but that's just my $0.02.
Anyway, I'll be seeing David this weekend -- so I'll ask him about your friends' signatures and pass along your email address if he wants it. Hopefully this will help in making the plush Bender doll a reality (ugh!)
You also ask how those of us who worked on Futurama feel about it no longer being in production. Well, I feel the same way about it that I suppose you do too, crappy. As I said earlier, making Futurama was an overwhelming pleasure, sort of like a visit to your dominatrix -- it's grueling when you're in the thick of it, but when it's over you kind of step back and say, "Man, that was awesome!" I'm also very sad now that the show is over, sad because I met and worked with a great group of incredibly talented people, many that I don't see very often anymore, and I miss them. Well, everyone except for our office manager, Jorge.
Lastly, let me just say that from time to time I'll check out the Futurama boards on the web and I read a lot of posts that go something like this: "Futurama's dead people! DEAD! Get over it! Hoping that it comes back is pathetic and stupid! Stop wasting our collective time and accept it!" Who are these people?! Soothsayers? Time travelers? Rupert Murdock? Whoever they are, you're better off not listening to them -- because if there's one thing that I have personally learned throughout this entire experience is that there's no such thing as a sure thing, be it good or bad.

I know it has taken a long time to get off my butt and finally post here so thanks for the welcome.
I think that kind of sucks with the Simpsons winning. They seem to win by default as I know many people were not terribly happy with the episode they won last year for (Three Gays of the Condo) and many Simpsons fans I know felt the Futurama episode was stronger. I know it will be even more difficult for Futurama to win this year because it not being on the air as well as I don't think I have seen any Emmy ads for it which only strengthens the Simpsons case. I will keep my claws crossed for you guys! I would love to meet up in the celebration and will definitely knock a few back in your honor should you win. Unfortunately, since I am married I had to turn in all my extra chicks to the proper authorities.
I agree partially regarding the plush Bender - I think I would rather have other characters first or instead but at the same time I know Bender is the more popular character and if any of them will sell well it will be him. My hopes are at least that if he sells well enough we will see some other characters released like a Zoidberg, Kif or others. Thanks for passing on the information.
It definitely seemed like there was some good comraderie behind the scenes with the various people who were working on the show and it certainly came out in the final product. I know what you mean though about sometimes when you are working on the thing it can seem like work but the finished product always makes up for it. Keep up the good work at RD wether it be Futurama (movie, returning series or what have you) or other projects you are working on! Thanks again for the reply and thanks for the welcome rikki_rakko. Viva la Futurama!! RM

Still stalking the PEEL boards, eh? Good to see. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Perhaps you've noticed the latest round of rumours... Namely, that there' s 50% of a new season that was never completed lying around (i.e scripts, storyboards etc.), and that there's been some sort of minor breakthrough regarding a renewal of the show. Details of this rumour can be found at MovieHole.net, Tvtome.com/Futurama/, and 'animationHQ.net'. Possibly others. Any comment you have to make would be muchly appreciated. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Oh, great, I'm reduced to using this board as an information pump... ah, well, I still loves ya. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
